About Me
Unlike most in my profession, my preparation as a Career Counselor began with work "in the real world" in a range of industries. After graduating from Brown University in 1984, I worked in staff and management positions in Communications, Sales, and Marketing.
All the while, though, what I enjoyed most was exposure to a range of people, talents, professions, corporate cultures, and industries - and the fit between them all. As a result of my own curiosity and success getting good jobs, I was sought out by friends and family to provide career direction. Preparing resumes almost felt like a hobby!
As a result of my increased interest in career development, I decided to change my own career by pursuing my graduate degree in Adult Development at the University of Rhode Island in 1998. Later, I pursued my Professional Certification as a Career Counselor and Career Coach through the Career Coach Institute. I currently have a private practice in downtown Portsmouth, NH and provide career coaching nationwide through phone and email. I also conduct career development workshops regionally at universities and adult learning centers throughout New England.
I love my job because I believe that finding meaningful, rewarding work is within everyone's reach. By removing blocks to career progress such as self-limiting beliefs, incomplete awareness of marketable skills, lack of purpose, and lack of knowledge about self-marketing and job search strategy, I can help my clients find fulfilling work regardless of economic conditions. I enjoy connecting people with their deepest level of motivation and helping clients discover and use their passion and purpose to guide their decisions about work. My job is to empower people to choose work they love, make a good living, and still have a balanced life.
It is a sincere pleasure and privilege to support each client’s unique journey toward success in this most vital aspect of life satisfaction.
